The Advisory Group

At Voices From Care Cymru we believe that it’s important that everything we do is guided by young people. Because of this, we are launching our new Advisory Group which will consist of care experienced representatives from all areas of Wales who will bring together a wealth of knowledge and experience from each of the different regions.

The Advisory Group will meet four times per year in different parts of Wales to discuss the future of our organisation and how we can better improve the lives of care experienced young people. It will be a great opportunity for the representatives to meet other care experienced young people and find out all about the great things happening in their area, as well as discuss the things they would like to change.

We now have a representative for the Welsh Youth Parliament and we’ll be introducing them in the coming weeks. In the meantime you can find out more information about the Welsh Youth Parliament here https://www.youthparliament.wales/

Want to get involved? We are looking for care experienced young people aged 12-21 to nominate themselves for this opportunity. Applicants under the age of 18 will require parent’s/guardian’s consent to be involved in the full activities of the Group. To get started with your application you can download the expression of interest form here in English or here in Welsh as well as the under 18 consent form in English or Welsh.

Voices From Care Cymru have 15 positions on the Advisory Group, which will be made up of young people from the following regions:

Cardiff, The Vale and The Valleys

Gwent

South West Wales

West Wales

North Wales

There will also be three more positions for young people who have been adopted, lived in kinship care or been an unaccompanied child refugee. These young people can reside in any of the five regions.

The selection process will be staggered, recruiting from each of the regions in turn, and will be undertaken by our Young Trustees and Operations Team. We hope to have fully recruited by early summer 2019. Those who are unsuccessful will still have opportunities to engage with Voices From Care Cymru, so please contact us to find out what’s happening in your area.

We are asking for your help to identify care experienced young people from the above regions, some of whom may already be involved in our local groups, to nominate themselves for this opportunity. If you would like to support Voices From Care Cymru with facilitation of the residential group events please contact us: aiden@vfcc.org.uk.

Follow #VFCCReps to stay up to date with everything that’s happening.

Deadline for applications has been extended to the end of February 2019.
