Laura's story x

Hi Guys

My name is Laura, I am 17 years old and have been in care for the past 10 years. Going into care was really hard because i had to leave all my friends, family and most of all my brother and sister. I have been in a lot of foster placements and only one permanent foster unit.

During my time in care I have learnt that there are people you can trust and people you cant, but that happens even if you are not in care. Being in care has strengthened me as a young person and made me the out-going, caring person that I am today, sometimes I think what would I be doing now? Would I have a good stable life, good friends, people I trust or things that just make me.

I am currently a volunteer at Voices From Care but I am also part of a group called the Blueprint forum. The Forum is a group of young people in care and care leavers based in RCT. What's great about our group is that we are all different people with different experiences. We don't judge other people but what we do best and always have done, is to help them, help them succeed and get the most out of life and help them be the person they want to be

So this is my story, please feel free to ask any questions, don't be afraid. If there is something you would like to know please leave a comment and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Thanks for reading

Laura
