Weed the real story!!

Hi Guys, My name is Jay and I have used weed since I was the age of ten.

I started back then cos I thought is was cool smoking weed but 9 years down the line I though to myself is it worth it!!! I started to feel like this cos I didn't want to grow up havin' an illness like schizophrenia.... It was starting to mess with my head to be honest and i really didn't like that feeling. So if you have been smoking weed for as long as I have, then I just want to give you the facts cos this could happen to you!!

What is cannabis?

Cannabis is also know as weed, skunk, resin, Puff, Pot, Marijuana, herb, hashish, hash, grass, ganja, draw, Dope, Bud, bhang......and the list could go on but I wont bore you with that. Weed is naturally occurring and made from the leafs of the cannabis plant (technical name I know). The main chemical that give you the high is called tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC for short). THC is the ingredient in cannabis that can make you feel very chilled out, happy and relaxed. I know what you are thinking, TCH sounds awsome!!!

BUT in my experience and science backs this up, it makes you feel very anxious and even paranoid. In some cases it can make you hallucinate, meaning that it can alter your senses, so that you might see, hear or feel things in a different way to normal!!! Even more scary, using it has also been linked, in some people, to serious, long-term mental health problems, like schizophrenia and just like smoking fags, smoking cannabis has been linked to lung diseases like tuberculosis and lung cancer!!! Now this info really got my attention.... So I looked into it a bit more

What are the effects of cannabis?

According to the website 'talk to Frank':

• Cannabis has a number of different effects. It is classed as a sedating and hallucinogenic drug. Its effects can turn out to be pleasant or unpleasant, it can be different with different people:
• Taking cannabis can make people feel chilled out, relaxed and happy, and they may get the giggles or become very talkative.
• It can make you feel very hungry – this is sometimes called 'getting the munchies'
• It can make you more aware of your senses, and the hallucinogenic effects can even give you a feeling of time slowing down
• Cannabis may cause feelings of anxiety, suspicion, panic and paranoia.
• Some people have one or two drags on a joint and feel light-headed, faint and sick. This is sometimes called a 'whitey'.

What does the law say!!

• Cannabis is a Class B drug – it's illegal to have it for yourself, give away or sell. Possession is illegal whatever you're using it for, including pain relief. The penalty can be up to five years in jail.
• Supplying someone else can get you fourteen years and an unlimited fine.
• Allowing other people to use cannabis in your house or any other premises is illegal, even if you have not touched the stuff.
• Supplying your mates, even if you give it away, is also considered 'supplying' under the law........so you have got the think is it really worth it!!!

If the Police catch you with weed, don't think ahhh its fine nothing will happen cos.... they'll always take some action!!! This could be a warning, a reprimand, a formal caution, a fixed penalty or an arrest and possible conviction.

I am not trying to sound like I am lecturing cos lets be fair many young people and adults have at least tried it at some point in life but I am just bloggin the facts as when I read up on it, it really got me thinking.....do I really want to do this?????

Thanks for reading and supporting

Take Care guys
Jay
